The AmountString external function adds the ability to your 4D data-bases and HyperCard stacks to convert a real number into a string with all the numbers written out. This is useful for receipts and other situations were you need the full text instead of a number.
Do you (or your client) have an international business and do you want to use the appropriate languages? Then this external function is for you! If you already use the ISO 4217 currency codes in your data-base or stack then you have even more luck!
The AmountString code allows you to use several formats to include currency data. It is also multi-lingual and supports several frequently used currencies.
This project has truly been an internation effort. Several people from different countries helped me to implement it.
It has been tested on several machines with System 6.0.8 and System 7 (7.0/7.1).
Because English is not my native language I may have made a terrible mess with all these terms to describe the parts in numbers etc. For this I apologize in advance.
If you want to extend the number of currencies and languages supported by this external you can fill in the included questionnaire. Please email this to me and I can add the data. You will then receive a beta-version to test. Also let me know when you have a suggestion for an additional format, which perhaps is used in your country.
Although ResEdit templates are included, do not edit or add to the data of the private resources! Please tell me what you would like to see changed so other may benefit from your knowledge.
Information about country names and currencies is based on the CIA World Factbook 1993.
